One of the highlights of working in Alaska was a job supervising the mental health center in Nome once a month for five years. Nome is about 500 miles due west of Fairbanks on the Bering Sea, and I would usually spend a day or two there.
One day in the summer when it was light all day, however, I flew out early in the morning from Fairbanks and flew back the same day. Shortly after we took off from Nome, when I looked out the window, I saw a luminescent shape about the size and shape of a very large jackrabbit bounding across the tundra. I instantly realized I was looking at my soul, which was trying to catch up to me, but of course could not travel as fast as I could on an airplane and yet had to take the same route I took.
I calculated that at this point my soul had been traveling about sixty miles an hour to follow my corporeal body to Nome. It occurred to since the soul could travel at most 60 mph at a maximum it clearly explained why one feels so bad from jet lag – it really is soul lag.
[This was a genuine experience, whether this was something my mind made up or I actually saw my soul I leave up to the reader to decide.]

I have often experienced this while traveling, particularly in the Andes.
Curiously, I also have found my Soul going ahead of me, and I had to catch up!
